Compatibility with EU RoHS Directive

EU RoHS Directive (put into effect on July 1, 2006)

The January 27, 2003 Directive of the European Parliament and the European Council on Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EU Directive 2002/95/EC)
(DIRECTIVE 2002/95/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances)

Hazardous substances whose use is restricted (specified threshold values)
·Cadmium and its compounds (100ppm)
·Hexavalent chromium and its compounds (1000ppm)
·Lead and its compounds (1000ppm)
·Mercury and its compounds (1000ppm)
·PBBs (1000ppm) ·PBDEs (1000ppm)

EU RoHS Directive provides for several excemptions.
In order to correctly understand the contents of EU RoHS Directive or its excemptions, you are advised to refer to the RoHS itself. Since EU RoHS Directive may be revised as required, please be sure to obtain the latest information at all times.

Examples of excemptions pertaining to semiconductor products (excemptions which have to do with products of our company)
1) Lead contained in high-melting-point solder (lead-based alloy containing above 85% of lead by weight)
2) Lead contained in glass components of electronic parts

Fuji Electric Systems has materialized products which are compatible with EU RoHS Directive by adopting external terminals, etc. which are free of lead and nuts and other parts of certain types of products which are free of hexavalent chromium.

Concerning the existing product groups, those which have been manufactured since October 2004 are compatible with EU RoHS Directive. (For details, please contact the Sales Department of our company.)
